Coach Bennet started as the freshman coach in 1995 and moved to coach Junior Varsity from 1996-2002 when Coach Lusk took over the Varsity.
After Coach Lusk stepped away to raise his two young daughters, Coach Bennet took over the Varsity in 2003 to present day. He was born and raised
in the San Francisco Bay
Area and moved to San Diego in 1968 attending San Diego State University.
He began his teaching career at Meadowbrook Middle School as a PE teacher from 1996 until retirement in 2011. He also has coach Varsity girls golf 2010-2022 and spent 26 years coaching frosh, jv and varsity as an assistant for Coach Trousdale in Poway Girls Basketball. Poway has 5 Palomar League Titles and one
Open Division CIF Championship (2015) since 2003.
Coach Lusk started as the JV coach in 1995 and became the Head Varsity Coach in 1996. He coached the Varsity for seven years, stepping away after the 2002 season after his team won the Palomar League Title as well as the Division I CIF Championship. He returned in 2014 to assist Coach Bennet and has been a great asset to our program. It has been a blessing to have him come back.
Coach Hall is in her 6th year as a Varsity Assistant. She graduated from Westview High School in 2009 and attended Ohio University, where she played softball. After graduation she played for one season in Italy. She found her way to Poway High as a math teacher and we quickly scooped her up to coach our pitchers and catchers. We are all lucky to have her on our coaching staff.
Coach Flores has lived his entire life in the San Diego area and currently lives in Encinitas. He is married and has one daughter. He is a graduate of USDHS (now named Cathedral) and got his bachelor’s from Redlands University in 1997. He coached baseball, basketball, and football for 10 years. In his 20’s he coached at Parochial School, Little League, & Adult Women’s softball. Coach Flores worked in the IT industry for 33 years holding positions such as Computer Analyst, Manager, and Director. Now retired (Pac Bell for 25.5 years and Verizon Wireless for 15.5 years), he was drawn back to coaching while observing his granddaughters play softball in Poway. He is pleased & honored to have opportunity to coach at PHS.
Since 2010, Coach Wright has been a coach for the Socal Breakers softball organization 18u team. Prior to this, he was the assistant Varsity coach at San Marcos High School, Oceanside High School, and most recently, Cathedral Catholic High School. He grew up in Honolulu, Hawaii. Since he was five years old, he has played many sports including football, baseball, basketball, and golf. He played college golf at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa as well as at the University of San Diego where he finished his degree. Coach Wright was also an assistant golf professional in the
PGA of Southern California program
from 2009 to 2013.
